OCTOBER 2025 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to October! Oktoberfest is upon us! A time when many a soul will hoist a stein of their favorite beer to celebrate the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, who later became King Louis to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1810. (Yeah, who knew?). Join me as I try a tall glass of non-alcoholic beer…. wait, what??? Argh…Doctor has said no alcohol for a little while. I know, we went from YEAH OKTOBERFEST! LET’S CELEBRATE!! to ok, give me an NA beer. I was lucky enough to have open heart surgery recently to fix some issues with blood supply to my lungs. How fun. But with your support and prayers I’m resting comfortably at home while doing as little as possible for the next two months. (My thanks to Sean O’Donnell for filling in for me at the last General Meeting.) My wife Debbie and I went traveling a year ago and stopped at the Guinness beer factory. (Incredible tour btw if you’re in Ireland). They make a non-alcoholic beer that is actually very good. I may be slowed down a bit, but I’m ready for a speedy recovery while my wine fridge carefully continues to age my collection. I’m really missing my alcoholic libations, and if that isn’t enough motivation to get better, I don’t know what is.
